MBP GarageBand Guitar Cable

So I just purchased this cable the other day:

The crazy thing is, it doesn't fit into the Line In jack! Obviously my headphones fit the jack fine. And I've plugged the guitar cable into different things that require a headphone jack (TV, MP3 Player, ETC) and the guitar cable fits into them just fine. Yet when I plug it into the MacBook Pro, it goes about 3/4 of the way in and then won't go in any further. I'm afraid to apply a lot of force for fear of breaking it.

Anyone hear of this happening?

The cable has two ends, a 1/4" jack for a guitar, and a 1/8" jack to plug into the input on the MBP. I just said that I tried plugging the 1/8" jack into other devices just to make sure that the plug would fit other things (it would).

Basically, the only 1/8" jack that I havent been able to plug this cable into is the MacBook's.
 
OK... the ebay link doesn't work so we can't see the cable.

I'm trying to visualize the inside of the jack, to understand why the 1/8" guitar cable would fit the output, and 1/8" headphones could plug into the input or output, but the 1/8" guitar cable won't plug into the input. Seems counter-intuitive...

Repost the ebay link and we'll keep thinking.

Agreed. This is very odd. I can't think of anything, without seeing the cable.

Perfectly normal. Don't force it in. It does work, right? My headphone jack do not go in all the way either yet the sound is not distorted or anything.
