MBP Hard Drive Upgrade Q's

Ok... I am using the upgrade to Leopard as an excuse to upgrade my MBP's HD. I am going to get a 250GB drive. My questions are:

1. Will installing a HD myself void my warranty / AppleCare?
2. Will a genius install a HD I buy and give to them (new - still sealed)?
2a. If they will, any idea on how much they will charge for this service?
2b. Also, any idea on how long I would be without my MBP?

Technically, the hard drive in a MBP is not a user replaceable part.
Apple Stores might not be willing to install third party parts not purchased from them.
Your best bet is to locate an independent Apple authorized service centre and get a quote of $ and time from them. Rates will vary.

I was at my Apple Store about 2 weeks ago and received the following answers to your questions.
1. No
2. No, they will not. I wish they would. I'm looking for someone local to do it as I'm uncomfortable doing it myself.

its not that difficult if you take your time,keep track of were all the screws go
and remember to keep grounding yourself

I was quoted $150.00 to change the harddrive with one I supply. This included data migration. This is from a Mac certified center.
