Hi everyone,

After replacing my whining MBP I am overly sensitive to the noises it makes. My left side of my MBP constantly emits a quiet and soft "wooshing" noise from that I first assumed was the fan, but now believe to be the hard drive. I can hear it clearly sitting at my desk without having to put my head close to the MBP.

According to system profiler my HD is a TOSHIBA MK1032GSX. It is the standard slow 100 gig that comes stock on the 2.0.

It really is white noise, but people keep saying their MBP is silent (other than some whines) and mine definitely is not. Should I be concerned or are some HDs just louder than others?

Thanks!

Some HDs are louder than others. The wooshing noise is hardrive noise. No need to be concerned.

i get the same noise. was going to return it and get another one but decided against the hassle. just try not to put your laptop directly on a table. put it on a soft surface to reduce vibration - noise.
