When I plugged in the 3.5mm (1/8") jack for my speakers on my MBP I noticed it didn't sit flush with the side. Is this normal? The same thing occurs if I plug the headphones that came with my iPod in. The sound is fine, no problems there but I just wondered.

Intentional or unavoidable? Bad phrasing perhaps.

It could have been implemented in a way that allows both analog and digital plugs to sit flush, but who knows, maybe there wasn't enough space. You can compare the length of the digital and analog jacks, and as you'll notice, the analog jack doesn't sit flush by the difference in length between analog and digital jacks.

I think it's bad engineering as it could lead to people using excessive force to push in the analog jacks.
