MBP Hinge of Death?

I have a new 17" C2D MacBook Pro. So far I've been loving it -- it's quiet, it's stable, it doesn't overheat, and it's blazing fast.

But the LCD hinge doesn't appear as strong as what I would expect. If the laptop is tilted more than about 40 degrees, the LCD lid shuts itself. I have heard this is more common with the 17" but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do about it, or if this really is a common issue or if something's actually different about mine.

It's not as bad as the Tibook hinge problem. Perhaps have the Apple Genius Bar check it out.

I have it on my 15" MBP. I tried to get it fixed by an authorized dealer and they said it is within Apple's standars or whatever. Just ignore it you will get used to it like I did.

The stiffness of the hinge does vary across different MacBook Pro's. My 15" C2D doesn't shut itself, no matter what angle it's canted to. My friend's 15" CD will shut itself past ~40?.
