MBP issues for programmers??

hi all, i'm a switcher and am planning to get a MBP soon , i am currently doin my Batchelors in computer science engineering , so i wanted to know if it will be fully compatible with VPN networks , cause the other day a relative of mine who is a coder told me that her colleague's mac was having some issues with the VPN.. is it true .. i'm planning on using bootcamp for my coding work , but still will there be any issues????

I have zero issues with VPN's on my Mac, though I'm not sure how this is a programmer-centric issue (if it was one).

Did you happen to hear what VPN problems this person was having? It could simply be that they have it configured wrong. VPN is, in theory, multi-platform and works on Macs. You could still have problems when you use it, though. From what you've told us, there's not really much more we can say.

I bought mine to code on (bring on XCode 3.0!), and I recommend an MBP for anyone else looking to do the same. "Buy With Confidence".

A Batchelors? From DOS University, I suppose?

I've never had a real problem with VPNs and my powerbook. However I did encounter a policy issue with a former employer that absolutely required a particular Cisco VPN client be installed on my machine, and that client wouldn't work on OS X, and thus my employer refused to allow me to use the VPN. (I don't work there any longer... go figure)

Yeah, I wouldn't think using a VPN would have anything to do with programming per se. But anyway my company uses Cisco's VPN software, distributes it for OS X and Windows, and it seems to work equally well for both (you just log into it and it lets you connect remotely to computers behind the companies firewall from home or wherever).

Worst case scenario, you can always run Windows natively on Apple's hardware.

thanks for clearing this doubt for me !!! and i'm doin my bachelor degree not "batchelor"... thanks for pointin the error ...

btw .. looks like my relative does not have a good idea about macs ... (she's a pc!!!! using a stupid dell laptop!!!) ..
so i've decided to go for a MBP in the commin weeks ..

another doubt
is the stock model 2.2ghz entry level MBP available in the new york apple stores now ????
