My computer is having some really weird issues I know it shouldn't be having. First off, the computer won't shut down. I have to hard shut down with the power button. If I hit shut down, it will go to a blue screen and sit there for 20 minutes (literally). Second, sometimes, the cd won't eject when I hit the button and I have to restart to get it out. Also, it freezes up at times and I have to restart. Additionally, my external mouse does not work sometimes even though it is plugged in and detected and I have to restart to get it to work. Finally, sometimes it won't wake up from sleep. All of this should not be happening with OSX. I have other macs with osx and i've never had anything remotely similar to these problems in this kind of frequency. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like fun.... sorry dude. I know i've had my share of problems with my MBP. Anyway, try running the hardware test to see if everything is ok in that department. Did you try connecting another mouse and seeing if it does the same thing? Is it a wireless mouse (batteries dying?)? Does it wake from sleep when you tap the keys, or do you have to do a hard shut down? Try resetting the pram (hold cmd-opt-p-r at startup) and see if that does anything, and also try safe mode (hold down **** while starting, i think) and see if any of those problems occur (especially the not shutting down).

Is it still under warranty? Might want to give apple a call or head to the genius bar... good luck...

Repaired disk permissions lately? (Utilities --> Disk Utility).

Try resetting the SMC. (The SMC controls backlighting, hard disk spin down, sleep and wake, some charging aspects, trackpad control, and some input/output as it relates to the computer sleeping.)

Also, give resetting PRAM a shot too.
