well its been a pretty good 6 months with my MBP C2D now its decided it hates me.. 1 - 2 kernal panics per day.. All appear to be hardware/Airport related... I'm dreading taking her in for repairs.. means i have to go back to my old PC

That sucks. Back everything up before sending it in because it can't be guarantied you'll get your old data back.
A number of people have been reporting issues with the 10.4.10 patch with Kernel Panics due tot he AirPort - might be worth researching to see if you can "downgrade" or waiting for the next patch before you send your mac of for repair.
