My 1 month old MBP SR has a problem. The keyboard no longer illuminates either automatically or manually. When I try to use the F9 or F10 keys it does nothing except show the on screen display for the backlighting - but under the illumination bars it has a circle with a line through it. I have all the very latest updates etc. Can anyone help?

F9 and F10 can only work if it's dark enough for the illuminated keyboard to come on. Take it into a dark room and hit F8 to try to toggle the illumination on and off. You can also check System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard to make sure the option is turned on.

You can also use Lab Tick to force the illumination to come on in whatever ambient light conditions you have. It's a good way to make sure it isn't working if you can't get it to come on any other way.
