MBP Keyboard Lighting up Periodically?

Every so often my MBP keyboard alluminates (I'm using an external keyboard) Is this normal? It doesnt always do it when I type on it though.

What kind of lighting environment are you in? The Keyboard is set (by default) to turn on in dim/dark environments. If your work enviroment is dark, it may indeed be switching on. check under system preferences and see if "Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and see if you have the same problem.

I'm looking in system preferences and I can't seem to find where to see if that is checked. Generally my room goes from light to dark depending on the sun I havent really looked to check when the keyboard alluminates.

The keyboard lights up when the abient light sensor under the speaker grille detects a low level of light.
