Hi,
After months of using a wireless router with no problems, suddenly my MBP is getting disconnected around ten seconds after every connection. It is lon enough to load a medium sized web page, but then that is it. I have to keep reconnecting which is extremely tedious. Other devices (phone, iPad) connect fine over wifi and do not have this problem.
What can I do?
Thanks!

Get onto the router itself, check for firmware upgrades, maybe set to default factory settings. Reboot.
Set it up again.

See what happens.

OP:

What router are you using?

If you take the MBP to another location that has wifi, can you connect (and STAY connected) there?

That would probably rule out a hardware problem with the MBP itself.

Good advice. If you could let us know what the router brand and model is, I could help you out.

I used to do all that upgrade firmware, switch to WRT, etc.

I dont bother any more. When a router decides to start going downhill, I throw it immediately in the trash, the hardware is starting to dump and I don't feel like wasting any more of my life over crap like that.

I had my first wifi network up and running in '99.

had dozens of routers.

They were ALL garbage.

Until Google Mesh.

Google got it right, first time ever.

Thanks everyone! Suddenly it started working again. I would still chuck it if it was mine - it has made my life hell - but fingers crossed it will last another month or two when I will install a Google mesh :/
