Hello,
I would like to get your opinion.
I have a MBP late 2013, 13" retina display.
About 6 weeks ago, all of a sudden I started having this problem: slow mac, loud fans and kernel_task over 200%. After a day, all back to normal, and continued on and off like this for a while. I googled it and tried several solutions, up to complete reinstall, but nothing worked. I took it to an official apple service provider in Germany, paid for the diagnose and they told me it was the battery, after 1000 cycles being on its last legs.
But to replace the battery was very costly and by that time, the MBP was functioning normally again. So i decided to wait.
The good news was, they told me because of "stain-gate" i was entitled to have my stained-screen replaced for free. So about a week after the initial diagnose I took my MBP in and they gave me a new screen with case. Perfect. All that time my MBP was working normally again.
Of course, the day after I got my MBP back, with the new screen, the problem came back. Probably just a coincidence. I found a technician to replace my battery, cheaper than at apple. So now I have a new battery and a new screen. But the problem is still there, and this time it doesnt go away, its been constant.
I tried everything again, resetting nvram, smc, reinstall even the popular fix deleting ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7253639)
clean install from bootable usb.
In deleting the platform-plugin, i forgot to enable the SIP on rebooting.
On the clean MBP I ran macs internal diagnostic test, and it came up with no issues. So I ran Etrecheck and it tells me the major issues are the check is Poor performance and SIP is disabled.
Now I wonder how this can be, when I did a complete reinstall? Shouldn't it be enabled automatically?
Every suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. I have spend days and quite some money on resolving this now. The technician who replaced the battery, thinks its a hardware issue, probably cpu / logic board.
Thanks
