I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing eye strain with the new MBP 15" screen. Not sure if it's the high res or LED, but viewing the display is irritating the heck out of my eyes. I tried changing the resolution and while it enlarges the font, it also makes the font fuzzy. I attempted to remedy this by adjusting "font smoothing style" in System Preferences, but didn't notice any substantial change. So it seems I'm either stuck with super high res with font so small (1440 x 900) I'll develop a hunchback, or fuzzier font if I attempt to lower the res.

Your comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.:)

Yeah, they weren't messing around with the brightness. What happens when you change the resolution (system preference - display)? Do things get fuzzy?

I know its a drag, but at least in October you'll be sorted with resolution independence in Leopard...

Are you sure its not the gloss (if you have it)

"in October you'll be sorted with resolution independence in Leopard"
Does this mean my problem is not unique? I'm just wondering if I got a lemon that needs to be returned or should I hold out for Leapard. Tell me more about resolution independence, if you have time.

I've got a matt screen, btw. Just came from using a Windozzz laptop with a glossy, and believe it or not, it was easier on the eyes than this thing.

Have you tried turning down the brightness? If you have then you can always go into the System Preferences and adjust the colour profile, it may be that there is something with the default colour profile that your eyes don't like.

I have to turn down the brightness on any LCD I'm reading text on for a decent amount of time. Bright white background and black text gives me a headache, no matter the size.
