Is anyone else having performance issues once you instal Adobe programs?

finally caved in and return my new MBP because everything kept freezing once I installed Adobe programs. (All the latest software)

both apple and Adobe support had no solutions and we tried everything (litterally everything from a the apple techs own words) and couldn’t get it working normal.

I’m hoping I’m the only one and that means I just got a lemon but wanted to ask before I go about ordering a new one.

Can it be that Adobe just needs to work on their M1 compatibility? The new machines haven't been out for even a week.

That’s what I’m wondering but Adobe claims they should be working just fine with Rosetta 2.
I couldn’t even copy and paste text without it freezing.

UPDATE: just got home from the apple store with a new machine. Returned the previous one and am experiencing the exact same issues. Starts with Illustrator freezing, then it trickles down to the rest of the apps as well.

Why do I feel like I'm the only one experiencing this issue!?

Latest software, latest OS, brand new out of the box MacBook.

what am I doing wrong?

did you made all the software upgrades first ?

I am running now illustrator , latest version, without any problem.
Only the first time you run it, you have to wait for a while...but from here on, no waiting at all.

I think if you try doing things with Adobe products while Rosetta 2 is busy translating them, you’re gonna have issues. Assuming the translation aspect doesn’t happen prior to actually using the product (while the icon is bouncing in the dock).

If everything was done right and you try using the Adobe product after a fresh reboot, with nothing else loaded/running, and it STILL gives you fits, then you have an argument.

But, with other people posting rave reviews about their experiences, seems hard to believe that you’d get two bum M1’s in a row... so I’m thinking it’s a software issue and something you’re doing/loading/running that you’re not mentioning. Just my own $0.02.

That’s what I’m really hoping it is! But I can’t, apple can’t, and Adobe all can’t figure out what’s causing the issues!
It’s much better on this new Mac but I just had to force restart because everything froze again.

do you have any suggestions of what else I can try?

only things I’ve installed so far:
Creative cloud
Illustrator
Epson WF7720 driver

signed into iCloud
Installed fonts (no errors or warnings on fonts, all showing as validated)

I’ve been using MacBooks for over 10 years now so it’s not like I’m new to the Mac OS or anything like that.

ok if you dont want the m1 MacBook, I would happily test it out if given the opportunity.

Abode have said they are working on a M1 variant of abode software and those versions would be out sometime next year.

After reading this out of curiosity I installed Illustrator and am not seeing any of the bugs mentioned. Performance feels like a native Intel app.

As an A+ Certified Computer Tech, my gut feeling is the Epson driver and/or maybe the installed fonts. iCloud is a native Apple thing, unless someone else has had any issues with it on their M1 Mac. I'd suggest uninstall the Epson driver, reboot and see if that helps. If not, try uninstalling all the fonts. Reboot. Fonts (way back when I had a Power Mac 6100/60), were a notorious consumer of RAM/resources, as I recall. Hope that helps...

It sounds harsh but many have been drinking Rosetta koolaid here not willing to listen that it will not do the job just like the previous Rosetta didn't do it right. Being able to fire up and run an app is one thing but to use app features without bugs and crashes is whole another thing. Bugs are present all over Adobe apps across the board through Rosetta 2.

And Rosetta 2 working flawlessly for drivers and fonts (installers?) and such, that are not M1 native may also be asking a bit much for a brand new baby in a new crib... Big Sur M1 11.0.1 running on an M1 Mac. ;)
