Now we have the required support for higher refresh rates in the HDMI ports, I am thinking of upgrading to a higher refresh external display. I currently have an Acer 43" 4K 60Hz display with a Mac Studio connecting via displayport and the image is very crisp.

I am looking at the Samsung 43" QLED Neo QN90B 2022 model as a replacement, it will do 120Hz and 144Hz at 4K.

I know in the past MacOS has typically had a bad time with using TV's as displays and it doesn't output in RGB so you get a fuzzy display. I experienced this myself with a Samsung TV and M1 Mac Mini connected via HDMI when they were first released which resolved itself after I changed the screen to the displayport model I have now.

I suppose it is too early to know but are we going to have the same issues again on the new machines and using a TV?

I might have to take one for the team and try it when my new MBP arrives this coming week and return the screen if it doesn't work as intended.

Hopefully looking forward to a nice 4K 144Hz MacOS experience on an external display!

the biggest question is if internal graphic buffer increased or we are still stuck at 7k?

Please check folks if you can get hidpi resolution on 4k or 5k monitors

I can confirm we officially have 120hz support at 4K out of the new HDMI 2.1 port. I have a 16MBP M2Max hooked up to an LG C2 43 OLED and it’s working perfectly at 120hz.
Could you check which HiDPi resolutions are available ?

Do we have 4k hidpi ??

She’s all up and running, 4K 120Hz is glorious on the 43” screen. Amazing performance as well.

Think I have finally achieved Mac nirvana.

Not a fan of yours, I was searching this forum to see about impressions on the new Macbook Pro M2 as was about to order one and saw this post and it so happened my local Best Buy had this same TV/monitor on sale for 899 , after seeing your pic I went by both the Apple store and best buy.

Damn you.

Haha made me laugh. I must admit it just feels like a huge upgrade and I can’t stop using it.

Bearing in mind I came from an M1 Max and 43” 4K 60Hz monitor.
