Hi all,
would love some help with this.
Some months ago I had a speaker replaced at a shop and since then the Superdrive isn't functioning properly. It whirrs on start-up, obviously gets power and has swallowed a CD but refuses to return it. Tried everything I know in the book to eject (had a side loading G5 iMac in the past).
The CD doesn't mount and System Preference confirms there's no hardware device for disc burning even present.
All the pins for the connector look good and are seated. I have a patched Catalina going here but no software changes were made before or after.
Obviously changing the speaker has had an effect somewhere, potentially under the logic board. It just seems odd that it has power but the OS cannot see it to even eject the CD. The Superdrive is out but I cannot see a good way of extracting the CD, perhaps someone has a secret tip.
Short of an obvious solution I'll take the whole thing back to the repair place.
Cheers all for any suggestions
