Hi!

I'm about to replace the optical drive and install a SSD instead.
Should I move the HDD to the optical bay and put the SSD to the main bay?
Both are SATA3 so this is not a matter. But I read that the drive on which OSX is installed should always be in the main bay in order to make sure that the hibernate mode works.

Actually I'm hoping that you tell me it does not make a difference because it would be much easier to put the SSD in the optical bay.

Thanks already for your help.

The reason that you might leave the hard drive in its original spot, is for the Sudden Motion Sensor (SMS). It does not support a drive that might be in the optical drive location.
SSD does not need the SMS, as it is not a mechanical device that would need the quick shutdown that a spinning hard drive might require, in the event that you drop your laptop while the power is on.
You can continue with your plan to install the SSD in the optical bay. Your spinning hard drive (in the hard drive slot) will continue to be protected by the SMS.
