So I booted my Core Duo MBP last night and the colors are completly warped. The default tiger aqua background is a mix of brown, blue, red, white, yellow and blue. I've tried reinstalling OSX but that didn't work either. I even completly got rid of my Windows partition in fear that I got a windows virus but that didn't help at all either. I'm thinking that I used the monitor too much and it got too hot and it blew something inside. I went to the apple campus store here and they said I should bring it in Monday when the tech-guys are here but I really don't want to send in my laptop as I use it for school alot and if I could fix it before Monday, that would be great.

Here are some pictures as they upload, which is very hard because I can barely read any text.

woah... funky....

if it returns to normal after a few reboots, it sounds like a hardware problem. Go to the store and say "i really need a notebook, can I just have a replacement?" Chances are, they won't swap the HDDs for you, though. Have you got backups of things?

wait...I can ask for a replacement instead of sending it in? how? this computer is older than 14 days..mind you, its a apple-authorized campus store, not an actual apple store

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new Core Duo MacBook Pro about 2 weeks ago. Sometimes it would boot up fine, other times it would look like the photo you posted, and sometimes the screen would just stay black, but all the lights would come on and you could hear the startup noise and all the disks spinning up.

Mine was less than 14 days old though, so I just sent it back, and my Core 2 Duo replacement should be arriving on Monday.

Try holding down Control + Command + Option and press the comma key repeatedly, it should return to normal.

That didn't do anything. Pressing period insead of comma makes it worse.

Do you guys suggest I ask for a replacement. This is one of many problems I've been having with this computer.

Okay, I don't need apple care support. I fixed it myself. I just reset the PRAM and it works fine now.
