Hello,

I just got my MaBook Pro (2.2 GHz and nVidia graphic card). I installed
Boot Camp 1.3 and Vista. I have a Benq Monitor 24" with the native
resolution of 1920x1080. The MBP is attached to the monitor via DVI.

The problem is that the max resolution Vista allows me to set up for
the external monitor is: 1024 X 768

I have tryed the original Vista driver from nVidia, but it wont recognize
my hardware.

Has anyone experienced similar problems and has a solution for it ?

Needless to say, that under Mac OS X everything works just fine.

UPDATE: I give the DVI to VGA, the one that comes with the MBP, a try
and belive it or not, it helped. I can now display on the external display the
full resolution of 1920 X 1200. OK, it is not really a solution, but at least a
workaround until a good nVidia driver for Vista is available in one of
the next releases of Boot Camp.

another user told me about this, and i just tried it. and it works on my 22" at 1680x1050 natively. although i probably wouldnt notice a difference, i'd still like to hook it up straight dvi, but this will do for now.

Has anybody found a fix that would allow a higher output with dvi? Currently I can't use my 30" cinema display with vista on my mbp sr and can't use the dvi to vga method because, of course, the resolution would be much lower.

I had a similar problem with my 24" iMac and 23" cinema display. I simply uninstalled the nVidia software and used the Microsoft drivers instead.

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

Works fine now.

It is possible to modify the .inf file of the official nVidia drivers to add in the MBP's graphics card. If i get a chance i'll do the mod and post the file but i don't know if it will work.

TBi, I don't know if this is related to the mod you are talking about, but laptopvideo2go.com has modded inf files that allow the latest drivers to install on the MPB. I tried this and it still did not allow me to use the external display at any resolution higher than 1050x768.

Same resolutions in VISTA and XP

NOTE!!!, this post is for the cases where one wants to use higher resolutions in VISTA then the monitor reports to support. In my case, I could have HD resolution in XP, but not is VISTA.

Hello all, I have found a little fix for getting more freedom choosing screen resolutions in VISTA.

The thing is, I am using both XP 64 PRO and VISTA Ultimate 64 on my computer. I am watching HD TV and Blue Ray on my computer a lot. In XP I can get a high resolution (1920 x 1200) on my 40 inch. TV, but in VISTA, not even close.

I have been wanting to get the same resolution on my VISTA for a long time now. I have been browsing the Internet to find a way to get my desired resolution, and I have tried all tricks, but nothing works. Then I got an idea.

My Nvidia card has DVI, and I am using the VGA on my TV, for that I have a DVI -> VGA converter. I looked up the pin layout of the VGA (http://pinouts.ru/Video/VGAVesaDdc_pinout.shtml), and found that pin 12 is bidirectional and is called DDC Serial Data Line, I figured that this pin is where games and Operating Systems is getting the plug and play information.

So I drilled out the metal part of hole 12 on the VGA part of my converter (female), and started VISTA. Now I could choose all of the modes that my driver supports, and when I unchecked the Hide modes that this monitor cannot display, I could choose all the modes that my card offers, including 1920 x 1200.

I guess this fix works for both DVI and HDMI, I have been looking into it, and it seems that it is pin 16 for HDMI and 7 for DVI, but I cannot guarantee this, check it out your self's before trying this fix.

Greetings :) :) :)
