After installing an MVMe SSD in my early 2015 MBP, enabling Apple Watch in Prefs-Security & Privacy-General no longer works. When selecting the option to use my Apple Watch to unlock apps and my Mac I am told that my Mac was "unable to communicate with my Apple Watch" and to "make sure my Apple Watch is on my wrist and unlocked and my iPhone is unlocked." Sadly, it may be due to the new SSD.

There also seems to be an issue with iCloud syncing randomly failing to function. Can an iCloud issue in any way be connected to a non-Apple SSD?

Enabling Apple Watch on my 2014 Mac mini with the same NVMe SSD works fine. Hmmm.

A sea of green
I'm pretty sure the communication with the Watch uses Bluetooth, so if you disconnected the BT antenna, either intentionally or accidentally, then No BT = No Watch.

If you have some other BT devices handy, you can enable BT on the Mac and check if it can see the other BT device. If not, and especially if no BT devices appear at all, then double-check the BT antenna connection.

My Bluetooth mouse is working so it can't be the connection.
