This one has me totally perplexed

We have a large Keynote presentation with many high resolution photographs in it as well as some HD video clips. Like many, I've been holding off purchasing a current Yonah based MBP awaiting a Rev B / Merom / whatever. Well, time is running out for my decision.

So, I decided to take a portion of the presentation over to the store and see how it runs on the MBP 15" / 17". I played the file from my Firewire drive as well as loading it onto the MBP desktop. Keynote has a slide transition called "Doorway". The transition from one slide to the next was very poor - not at all smooth. These units had 1GB ram installed - I was

Keep in mind that the VERY SAME transition runs smoothly at the home office on our Mac mini core duo with 2GB ram installed driving a SAMSUNG 1440 x 900 monitor. For the hell of it I tried it out on the mini in the store and it also ran smoothly ????

Now for the real killer - the Doorway will NOT run smoothly on our G5 Quad with 4.5GB ram.

Any ideas as to what is going on here - ??????????

So you played the file from a firewire HD in all circumstances?

Have you tried copying the file onto each computer and seeing if that makes a difference. The firewire controller could be very different on each machine perhaps causing different experiences ?

No - I loaded it onto each of the MBPs as well - no difference in performance.
