MBP power bottom tilted (w pict)

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my MBP power switch was tilted to one side. As you can see in the picture, its right side is flush with the surface of the MBP but the left side is pushed in. I tried pulling it with a needle put it just goes down again when pressed.

I am the only user of my MBP and dont know how it hapenned. It was like that on morning. The switch works great as usual.

This imperfection is more noticeable than what it looks in the image and it drives me nuts everytime i look at it.

Anyone had this happened? Any known and easy solution.?

Pros: doesn't look that bad imo (hardly noticeable), and power button works fine

Cons: i had an HP monitor and hte power button one day got like that...eventually the whole button just caved in and I had to send it to HP (pain in the you know what, but still free).

so you might want to take it to the genius bar (if you live near one), it's probably easy to fix.

First time seeing something like that with the power button. It could be that my MBP is on most of the time that I rarely ever touch the power button.

Edit: The OP is in Honduras so I don't think Apple stores have made it down there. The only thing I can think of is to attempt to remove the top half and see if you can adjust the height of the power button.
 
I have this now too, what a shame! When I first read this thread I checked my power button to make sure it was okay, and it was. Now it's not!! Lame! Luckily mine isn't noticeable since the part closer to me is the side that's dipped in, so from my angle it looks fine. Don't think it's worth taking apart the computer though so I'm not sure I'd even want to go to the genius bar...
 
Had that problem

I had that same problem and read about it on the Internet. If you can't stand it like I did, just go into an Apple Store and they will put a new topcase on for you. They will be aware of the problem. The adhesive holding it up is weak.
 
yes, believe or not the power button is not integrated in the top case,it's just stuck with a bit of glue.
You can always take off the top case yourself and stick it with a bit of superglue
 
A new top case sounds like a bit of overkill for such a teeny problem... however I am also certainly not going to use super glue on my $2000 computer, if it needs to be fixed, I'll leave it to the professionals.
 
Actually super glue is a bit over kill because if Apple had used it in the first place nobody would've had this problem :D
 
The problem is actuaklly more commont han you think and yes, it's because the glue has "unstuck."

You could have Apple service it, or just take apart the top case and re-glue it. Either way, it probably does need to be fixed somehow, as it will likely only get worse with time.

I had the same thing, but not on my MBP. It was on my 17" PB. Sorry, but no solutions for this one, because my case needed to be replaced, so this issue resolved itself automaticly.

Seems you're the only one getting annoyed in here, everyone else is just talking about this issue.

BTW, your answer "glue the button to the case" was not that helpful to me, so that isn't much of a **** answer. Sorry. As I said, when it comes to gluing something on this expensive product it seems best left to people who know what they're doing.
