I have a couple more questions
I used IScroll2 on my iBook and it gave me the two fingered click = right click, is there any way to do that on my MacBook Pro?
Also, my MacBook Pro has the whine issue, is opening then closing comic life the way to fix it without affecting the battery life?
Is there a way to turn off one of the cores so that it will improve battery life?

the whine is a CPU which isn't in use. PhotoBooth stops the whine as well. Any thing which continuously addresses the CPU will stop the whine.iBookG4user said:I have a couple more questions

You can turn off one core, but it probably won't save any battery life, because the cores were designed to work together to save power. Maxing out one CPU has the same effect as spreading the load across 2 CPUs

The Patriot RAM has the right specs on the surface: Whether or not it is MBP compatible or not is a tossup: the vendor does not guarantee compatibility. The MBP is less tolerant of sloppy timings in the chips than most PC laptops, which was seen in the first wave of cheap generic modules.
RAM from a Mac-aware seller with a MacBook Pro compatibility guarantee will be $50 - $70 more expensive per 2 Gb pair, but will reduce your risk.
Crucial, OWC (MacSales) and Data Memory Systems are the US sellers most often recommended here.

one has to take into context how hot the powerPC g4 processors were, especially in laptops
altivec was a big part of the heat generation
in the past, intel could never keep up, mhz for mhz, on large photoshop files because of powerPCs altivec, but intel has now incorporated a similar technology to altivec into their chips which uses less voltage and thus less heat
the mbp benches faster than the macbook, but it really shines over the macbook when it comes to gaming, which a lot of people do, though they won't admit it

My MBP is a week 36. The Patriot RAM does work and I bought it in Fry's store for $220. I am downloading the 10.4.8 update right now, so I'll see if it gives me that option.
For the photoshop test in another thread, my MBP is 5 times faster than my iBook, and that's using Rosetta . Now it takes seconds to encode a 10MB AVI file instead of minutes, although the battery life is half of the iBooks and it costs about 4 times what my iBook cost... And I found the two finger click option after I updated .
