No, that's desktop RAM.

Don't know about NewEgg shipping to the UK, but I wouldn't even buy RAM from them here in the US...they don't guarantee their RAM to work in Macs and charge restocking fees if you have to return it. Many UK people like to use Crucial UK for their purchases, but maybe someone else can pop in with some other suggestions. Find a vendor that has an online wizard where you can input your machine's specs and it will show you the proper RAM for your system. Most good RAM sites have them.

I've used them several times, and never been disappointed! I don't know about UK shipping, however....

No, these are absolutely wrong. They are desktop memory, not MacBook Pro memory.

Please, do yourself a favor and find a reputable Mac-friendly memory dealer who tests and guarantees compatibilty with your model Mac.

NewEgg and the big box discounters don't - they don't help you out, and in NewEgg's case they are quite willing to charge you a restocking fee if you want a refund on memory you chose wrong (and they charge restocking 2 x more often than the industry average, according to PCWorld's customer survey).

In the US, OWC and Data Memory Systems are recommended often. In the UK, Crucial is, and I have heard good things about Orca memory, but don;t have any direct experience.

But make sure you get the right RAM for your Mac, a lifetime warranty, and a no-charge return if it doesnt work.

And know that it will work. Now i am wondering, is ther a market for 2 x 512mb ram to sell? or should i just keep for if i need to send my mbp back to apple for an reason? Do i NEED the same ram apple sent me, or does it not matter, as i'd rather sell my current ram to get a bit of cash towards the new ram. Thanks

Crucial UK has its own site, so you'd order from there.

On a side note, I now boycott Crucial USA due to several shady pricing strategies they've used over the years. They sell good RAM, but I refuse to support their business. If I had another good recommendation for UK people I'd share it, but I don't.

The diff is that the Dabs RAM is the generic Crucial, and the Crucial RAM is the one that Crucial guarantees compatibility on. They may in fact be the same module, but Crucial will only support the CT541093 in the Mac.
