Hey i just bought the new macbookpro- im curious as of who has used which type of ram and how much did it make a differance for them? let me know youre experiences. I bought two patriots 1gig and im wondering if there are better?

well i did the same thing u did.. i purchased the 2gb kit from patriot and i have been very happy with it, as my orig config was with only 512mb, and with the 2gb jump it has been wonderful, and noticable with diff programs.

Welcome to MacRumors

First, search the forums, there are many threads addressing the choice or RAM

Patriot has been reported as hit or miss for compatibility - if yours works, great -- run Apple Hardware Test from the OSX CD just to verify.

As far as RAM performance goes, as long as the RAM is compatible with the machine and operating correctly, there should be no difference in performance between brands. You can't make the machine faster by installing 'faster' RAM, because the Mac sets the clock speed.

One unanswered question is whether low latency RAM will make a performance difference (at the same clock speed) in the Intel machines -- it apparently did not make any difference in the G4s.
Currently, there are very few DDR2-667 modules that are any tighter than CAS Latency 5, because the foundries are not mass producing fast enough chips to allow for lower latencies.

Thanks
