MBP Right Speaker

I have seen many comments about the right speakers of MB Pros. I too have noticed issues with mine. The right speaker when you switch the balance to the right does sound more distorted than the left speaker. When the warning beep sounds on the computer, and the volume is at the highest level, it does not sound as smooth as it should.

My question is whether this is simply how these computers were made, or whether some subset of MBP have this issue. I am already on my third MBP in a little over a week and a half (first one dead pixel, second one bad VRAM). Other than what I would call less than stellar sound quality, this one seems pretty good. Still, if people have no issues when they are playing music, perhaps I should take it back.

Is it really neccesarry to be that nit-picky over the speaker?? It's a laptop, for crying out loud. It's not going to have awesome sound quality. There is no way it can in a form that is as sleek and compact as the MBP. I can understand some of the complaints about dead pixels or something going bad in the computer, but poor sound reproduction? What did you expect??

Sorry that you have had so many issues with your MBP. My MBP specs are in my sig. I would say that compared to my T42 ThinkPad, the sounds quality is excellent. I think it is possible to get really good sound quality while maintaining a sleek design - the MBP proves that.

With that said, at all volumes I hear no cracking/muffled sound when listening to iTunes, CDs, playing DVDs, etc. This is just my opinion/experience. Others may differ.

I don't think its nitpicky at all, to be honest with you. If you switch from speaker to speaker and hear different sound quality in each, is that nitpicky? I am not asking for a THX certified laptop, but I do think that if I spend over $3000 for a laptop that things should work properly. If it is a design issue, which I suspect it may be since there are a lot of similar posts out there, then I will live with it. If it is something defective with my unit, then I don't feel I should have to.

its unfortunate you've had problems, i'd have done the same thing for the messed up grphics and dead pixels.

mine is fine though. the speakers do fail if you pump the volume to the max, and particularly if you're playing something with alot of bass = you do get some distortion - and depending on the error sound you have, if the volume is maxed even that will sound a bit odd.

BUT...the sound is fine for listening to music or video at resonable levels. i do some video editing and ALWAYS use headphones (good quality ones) to get more depth and less distortion. you'll never get really good sond from laptop speakers - they're not meant to be hifi, they're just for general stuff and the work great for that.

the mbp sounds wayyyyy better than my two brother's lpt and my dads lpt.
