So I have a relatively new macbook pro and it's starting up very slow. It's not the santa rosa, its a 2.33ghz with 2gb ram and a 160gb hd. I haven't installed anything recently or updated anything. I downloaded maybe 10 songs from itunes but what should I do. It beach balls a lot right after starting up and the top (white) bar takes a while to show up as well as the hard drive size (which I have set to show up under the harddrive icon). I've heard a bunch about zapping pram or repairing permissions but what is it I really need to do and how can I do it to fix this?

to repair/fix permissions

Finder->Apps->Utilities->disc utility

click on your HDD, and Verify disc permissions. If it tells you to fix it, then fix it..

Also, look into Onyx, its a good maintenance program
