Hi,

Need help....

My new MBP is not shutting down - it's not doing anything actually... I can't launch any application either....... I have been using it for a week ....

..not sure if you guys need more info.. if you do, let me know....
[ if I close the screen and open it again - the hard disk seems to start spinning and then nothing else happens....

Quick and dirty solution would be to hold the Power Off key for several seconds.

Or does the MBP also behave like this after rebooting?

...have already tried that... it simply isn't shutting down.... nothing happens after 1-2 / 2-3 / 3-4 / 4- 5 seconds...

EDIT: Oops 4-5 seconds seems to have done the trick... sorry that I panicked - this is my first ever mac .. and everything was running so smoothly before that I sort of freaked out...

Thanks c-Row....

I wish I could delete this thread... there was no need to start a new one ...

Hmm... need to be more patient... :)

holding the power button for 5 seconds will force the computer to shut down. that's why holding it for 2, 3, or 4 seconds didn't work.
