I'm not too sure if it's the desk I work on or the rubber feet thing, but my MBP seems to slide too easily... are there replacement feet or something I can do to make it slide less?

And, I think there's something wrong with my SuperDrive... when I insert a disc it sounds like it's murdering the disc inside... like there are very loud snapping sounds and the whole case vibrates.

It reads fine and spins fine though.

Finally I have arrived.....

I also posted a similar thread a few weeks back. I found out that is normal. I purchased C2D MBP on 11/1/2006 and it also makes louder sound than my other Macs (PBs and iBook). But, once it sucks in the disk, there is no abnormal sound. It makes the same loud noise when it ejects the disk.

So, you can consider it within specs. So far, I have not experienced problems with the optical drive (except for that noise you have mentioned).

You could try Pawz by Radtech: http://www.radtech.us/Products/Pawz.aspx
I haven't tried them myself, but if you're truly worried you might look into it.

I found the Superdrive to be much quieter than my PB G4's...it's not loud or obtrusive at all. It's kind of a medium pitched zinging noise (about 6 separate tones when disc is inserted). Perhaps you could make a recording of the noise your MBP's superdrive makes?

For MBP sliding issue, you can also go for notebook raiser (like the one from Targus) or iLap. I use mine on iCurve with external keyboard/mouse and ACD; so I don't have that problem.

Nah, this is a replacement (sent it back cause of dodgy screen), and my first one did not make that noise.

Like, as I said, it sounds like it's murdering the disc. I don't have any recording stuff around me (at work), but I have my iRiver at home and I'll upload one then.

I'll check out Pawz, thanks. Was trying to find something on eBay cause I'm broke now, heh.
