a better place
This has probably been answered to death, but I'm going to ask anyway.

So since the recent SR MBP firmware/software update, my temperature on the MBP has sky rocketed from 50c normal load to 80c ?

Battery life has depleted from 4 hours average to around 1 hour ????

WTF has apple done to my mac book pro ?

Edit. I've done all the usual, reset P-Ram, repaired permissions etc. Just cant seem to cool this thing down :(

Seems very wrong! I just updated mine yesterday and now, running two screens world of warcraft, ventrillo and firefox, mine is 70C (although in a laptopstand)

Yeah it does seem so wrong, and just cant cool it. It's on a iCurve as it is, so why is it now so hot ?

It can't be good for it. I'm thinking maybe a full re-install of osX might cure it.

Mine just bought and updated, runs cool 38-48 with surfing and mail, never over 50..... My batt is lasting 4ish hours...might be your MBP ...

Yeah that's what I'm starting to think too, just seems strange that it was perfect until the recent update ? Maybe it's just a co-incidence, but that does seem to have been the catalyst. :(

Coming from a long line of powerbook, this is really running cool, I am surprised, sold my macbook and i am in love eith the feel of the MBP. Let us know what you find .....

It's the CPU. One of them is reporting costantly running at 100% :( Hence the machine is running nearly on full load- all the time.

:(

Edit.... The Mystery is Solved...

Activity Montior - Show all processes. PrintJobManager reporting 100% cpu ?
Checked and I had 1 print job hovering in the background, simply cancelled the print and everything has now gone back to normal.

CPU back to normal, and temperature back down to normal... Phew.....

Run activity whateverit'scalled and look which process uses all your cpu?

Edit: ok you had done that now .. ;/

I wonder why a print job would take all cpu =P
