I just attempted to play my iTunes library on my MBP and the sound is very weak and filled with Bass, treble is non-existent...horrible. The whole thing requires the volume to be maxed out before i can even hear the tunes at decent level.

My PB is opposite however in that i never go beyond mid-volume..sometimes a tad higher but not even close to the level the MBP requires. Audio settings are identical on both machines as far as i can tell but the MBP is just *****.

Am i doing something wrong?

PS its a 2.16 15" MBP (refurb)

This might be of interest.
The MBP speakers just suck compared to the PB ones. Apple just had to hit the 1" casing size mark, resulting in a non-working partnership between the housing and the current MBP speakers.

Try changing the balance from left to right when playing music. Which is better? Left or right?

Both seem to sound fine. The thing just sound likes its been choked...its low
