Just got my new MBP SR and I'd just like to chime in that it's perfect:

--> No Yellow screen issue or any of the other screen issues people complained about.
--> Zero dead or stuck pixels
--> Lid closes fine on both sides.
--> Temperature under heavy CPU loads with default fan control is between 52 - 58 degrees Celcius (that's fine right?). Laptop is warm, but for sure not hot.

Baught it in Hong Kong at a mall in Shatin (New Town Plaza). Shop is called 'Designer Company' and they seem to be serious and professional about their Mac business. Also got a LaCie Little Big Disk 200GB and Apple Care.

They guaranteed me before purchasing that if there was anything wrong with the laptop within 7 days.. like Yellow screen, a dead pixel, overheating, etc. ...they would exchange it for a new one directly. They even put it in writing on the invoice at my request. Was very happy with that.

Build quality of this thing rocks. My thinkpad is probably less fragile, but in terms of design and usability and pure user satisfaction, this thing runs circles around any thinkpad I've used.

To any thinkpad users out there unhappy with the declining quality under Lenovo... The MacBook Pro is the way to go...hands down. I did alot of research into a better alternative to a ThinkPad and until the moment I started using my new MBP, I was stll in doubt about the move to Mac. My doubts are gone and I'm 100% sure now that I made the right decision.

... I'm Loving it!!! :D

That;s great - congratulations!

Now, tell us what week it was manufactured and also which display it has!
Thanks....

i get that people tend to complain a lot on forums, but these threads are about as pointless as it gets

No chex, you're completely wrong. We need more of these kind of threads, as at the moment the forums do not give a fair representation of customer satisfaction. On these forums, it's easy to get the impression that almost all MacBook Pros are faulty in one way or another.

A forum I hang around on which is dedicated to B&O is much better in many ways, because we have so many posts from people who simply love their new kit. Because we don't get that here, things tend to get a bit negative at times.

I'm sure this has been covered in other posts, but how do I find the build week and the display brand?

System profiler doesn't seem to show this information.

I believe the second and third digit of your serial number is you build week and if you go to system --> display profile or something like that you shoud find it in there - I have not even got a mac yet and I feel like i know a couple of things because of this forum! although I'm sure I am goign to be corrected!

In a normal forum I would agree with you for 100%, but this forum has turned into a b#tching place about MacBook Pros. This is giving prospective buyers an increadibly unfair impression of these great machines.

Just to give you an idea, when opening my MBP for the first time, I was sweating and my heart was pounding cause I was terrified to find all these problems with my MBP ...as described in this forum. This fear should NOT be part of the buying experience of a Mac.

This forum should be a place where people share both their good and bad experiences with the MB and MBP.

Ok, build week is 25. Still am not able to find the display brand.

Ok, I guess it's a Samsung as it shows '00009C68' in the color profile settings on line 13. Just going by instructions that other people posted.
