I'm considering the purchase of a hard plastic shell from Speck Products for my new SR MBP. But before I do I thought I'd ask if anyone here already has one of these combinations and if the plastic shell fits the new MBP.

I ask because I've heard that the new MBP is very slightly thinner than the previous version and I'm wondering if the shell will fit properly.

Thanks.

Lighter, yes by .2 pounds. Thinner, no. Therefore, you should be fine.

I have it for my C2D MBP.

if you could get it cheaper than 50 go for it. its just a semi-flexible plastic shell that you snap on. The peace of mind that I wont get any scratches on pretty much the whole outer casing is great. plus i've gotten responses ranging from awe to curiosity from people cause my MBP is shiny. :p

No, the new MBP is not different in terms of dimensions from the gen 1 or gen 2 MBP. Actually, one wouldnt be able to tell a 3 rd gen C2D from a 2nd gen. there are no visible differences.

I noticed a ~2 degree increase. You're gonna insulate heat with a plastic shell no matter what. Nothing major though.
