Hey y'all,

Well here's my predicament. I'm currently using this 1.83GHz MBP and its been acting up lately. The trackpad is completely dead, as in it doesn't register and taps or movement. The mouse button is also iffy at times as in sometimes it registers a click while most of the time it doesn't. In addition to that though I don't really know if this is related or not the keyboard stops working after playing a DVD using the DVD player which came with OS X. The only way to get the keyboard working again is to restart the machine. I've tried all ways and means to try to get the trackpad working but it only worked after I totally shut down the computer and unplugged everything that was connected to it. Even then it worked for like 1 minute or so...

On a side note, Windows XP also doesn't recognize the trackpad input and it doesn't disappear from my System Preferences in OSX. I have to use the mighty mouse for now. Anyone else have this problem?

Remove the battery and inspect it for swelling and/or seperated seams. This swelling is a known problem in some MBP batteries and will effect the trackpad. If it looks bad, call AppleCare to get a replacement.

Well, I didn't take a look at the battery compartment yet but the weird thing is that both the keyboard and the trackpad seem to be working again. Its really really weird. Kind of reminds me of ...and I hate to say it... Windows! >.<
