Um... so last week, I came across an AMAZING deal for a MBP for $1300. (Believe me, being a petite little girl, I was very skeptical about meeting up with the person selling it.) However, everything was intact, the MacBook was in perfect physical condition and he made sure to include the original receipt for it.

The problem he mentioned was that it had trouble turning back on after a prolonged period of being off or asleep. I've come across this problem a few times in the three days I've had it so far but it doesn't happen every time. He said he contacted Apple and that it was something about the logic board? I went to the Store and also called about it but the answers were all different.

My questions: Has anyone had this problem? I am sending it in early this week but I wanted to see if it's happened to anyone or if there are some quick possible solutions. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much! :D

one solution is to reformate the drive and try a clean install of OSX. Waking up can easily have something small get a glitch in it or some small part of a file gets damage causing it.

Other common problem is a hardware issue some peice of hardware has a minor problem and it prevent the computer from waking up. If I had to guess where a hardware issue could be my first place to check to check would be the ram. Next thing would be a PSU or mobo glitching.

Hm, what if the only RAM in there is the one stock from Apple? When I went to the Apple Store to see if their machines did that, one of them did. So uhh I guess I'm not the only one?

It won't come out of being "asleep" and I'm forced to hold down the Power key to turn it off and then turn it back on again. Or, if it does wake up, it gives me the immediate prompt "Hold down the power key to shut down your computer" in several different languages or something similar to that.

I think I came across an article (can't remember where!) where the MacBook Pro had the same problem. They compared it to the Windows BSOD. Yikes. :(
