MBP turns off when unplugged

My Macbook Pro is turning off after unlpugging it for about 15-20 minutes. I cannot get it to boot again until I plug it back in. My battery has been dying a lot faster lately too. Does this sound like a battery problem or a problem with the MBP itself?

I have it already. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Right now my maximum battery charge says 2900 mAh, but it was at 5000 earlier today.

I had this happen to me. Its a bad battery. Call Apple and they should replace it.

have you tried resetting the SMC?

Resetting the SMC did not work. I guess I have to give Apple a call.
