MBP UK vs. US Keyboard

Hi all,

I am from France and ordered a BTO MBP 15" Glossy...so far i am disappointed as i have a slight yellow tint and the lid does not close evenly...I have also ordered it with a an English KB as at work i have one (Dell D610) and it perfectly fits my needs (i hate french KB...AZERTY and need to hold shift to type a number).
However i was very surprised not to say shocked by the UK apple KB...the enter key is so tiny...question of habit? i dunno...also as you ca see on the pic there is no delete but only backspace...

Any thoughts from people experience with both? Any recommendation as i plan to return mine and may take the opportunity to change the KB layout.

Could someone share US KB pics?

Thanks guys. gotta another question. You seem to have a delete key when i have a kind of arrow instad. Mine act like this. If i type "HOME" i have to b after the "E" to remove delete the word. Is that the same for you or not?

I was used to be able to delete the word from its first letter without having to go to the last...

.. this is just to save space on the laptop... simply hold "fn" and then use the delete key it will work the way u want...

... apple should have labled our US keyboard "Backspace" not delete, as it is a backspace button unless you hold fn

Thank you! The other difference with UK is that it seems they prefer using signs and US words...like TAB/CAP LOCK when on my UK one these are signs...i beleive a matter of habit...i hope!

Also if you hold your Alt Key on the right and type a E do you have accents on the E?

The US one has to have a big enter key because they have such fat fingers

Only joking, it isn't really a problem once you are used to it

UK keyboard is more international, hence preferring to use symbols rather than words.

I don't have a problem with the tiny Enter key.

One massive problem is with the UK Caps Lock key - it's GIANT. I almost never ever use it, (WHO TYPES IN ALL CAPS?) preferring to hold down shift key when necessary.

Of course, since the shift key is used in every sentence I type, Apple made it half the size of the Caps Lock key above it.

In my typing I often accidentally hit the caps lock without noticing, MAKING MY SENtences all caps without noticing. I downloaded a utility from the internet that disables the caps lock key, and all is fine now. (apart from having one of the biggest keys on my laptop keyboard disabled).

BTW if your MBP doesn't close properly and has yellow screen, send it back.

You sir... do NOT have a UK keyboard layout, it's the intl' English !

Checkout the Number 3 it's Alternate Function on yours displays a # and not a £ like on the UK keyboard, also the button immediately to the left of the number 1 is a weird symbol and not the tilda ~

And yea all our Return keys are the inverted L shape but normally not as small as on the apple ones.

You are correct i have intl' English...and even French KB are exactly the same except small differences like accents and french stuff...so the one which is really different is the US one...not sure which one i would prefer and if it is worth the exchange...regarding my uneven lid i have seen some in shops and from other guys on the forum and many have the left hand side with a tiny gap...
I am going crazy...change? keep? change? keep? damnnnnnnnn

Hmm. I have a powerbook with a UK keyboard, and the £ on the 3 key. However, to the left of the 1 key, I also have that wierd symbol "§", same as in the OP's pic.

Anyone know what § is for?

Here in Germany I see it a lot on legal documents referring to "Section X.x", as in §10.5 or whatever.

Oh thanks, you reminded me, I see it used in that context here too, and also in publishing jargon. What is the symbol called and how do you pronounce it?
