There is some refubs in the store for the 3.06 imac with the 8800 cards.

Will this be quicker than my unibody MBP 2.53 and 9600 video card?

I use ilife 09, firefox, alittle gaming using bootcamp and XP.

I don't know if I should sell the MBP and buy the Imac because I don't ever move the MBP and like the 24" monitor

The Imac 3.06 with the 8800 will best the MBP in every area...... I have both these macs and if you don't need portability then nothing beats 24" of screen real estate!

What about gaming ? in XP

The 8800GS vs the 9600GT both with 512MB Ram. Is the Imac GPU a mobile or desktop card?

Imac for gaming, both running native you can't beat the 24" screen. I game on both and I definitely get better fps on the Imac on the games I run, being COD4/5 and Unreal 3. The 8800 is a mobile GPU.

I to had the 8800 GS iMac (before returning it for the this latest version with the GT130) and it bested my MBP in all walks which is also the same model as yours. I do mostly day to day tasks (photoshop, itunes, iphoto, imovie, handbrake, firefox, logmein - gaming WoW native and on the Boot Camp side under Vista L4D, COD, Spore, Fable, Burnout Paradise as of late) I did upgrade the iMac to 4 GB of RAM though for what it's worth. Those 8800 iMacs are still a great computer and so very reasonable at the refurb price!

Really, so its going to be an upgrade from my current MBP.

I might have to order myself one then

Does anyone know what the 3dmark06 results are for the 3.06 with the 8800GS card ?

I've ran this on my MBP and my gaming PC which has a 9800GTX+ and this scored 16000. The MBP gets about 6000 with the 9600GT card

I heard the new Imac with the 130 gets about 9600.
