My parents got a 1.83GHz MBP when they first came out, and all is perfect, except for the display, which doesnt quite sit flush with the computer. When they first got it, they took it in to get more RAM installed, and they said that the warp was excessive, and could be replaced under warranty. But ive also read that Apple don't replace for cosmetic issues. Would they still be able to take it back and get it repaired/replaced?

Did they get it directly from Apple or through a reseller?
They ordered it off the Education site (as both are teachers, which explains how i got my MacBook with the discount)

So it looks like i should take it in sooner rather than later. Next question, should i take it in now, and potentially get a 2Ghz model, or wait for the Meroms?

No point in waiting because it's very unlikely they'll upgrade the machine. The longer you leave it, the more opportunity they have to blame you (or your parents) for causing damage. I'd take it in ASAP for the best chances of getting a result. Of course, I don't think there's a terribly good chance of getting anywhere in the first place though. :(

If they said they would replace it take it back and get it fixed.

You're going to get another Core Duo. I doubted they'd give you an upgrade to Merom so easily. I have a friend witn an 1 GHz iBook that luckily got an upgrade to the MacBook.

my display is warped as well, but you can only see it when the notebook is closed..plus, every MBP i've seen is the same way. I really wouldn't worry about it.

I sent my macbook pro in for repair for other reasons but mentioned that my macbook pro also had a warpped lid. I think I was just being picky since the lid wasn't THAT warpped, just alittle high on the left side. When I got it back, I was like, omg, it's sooooo "gd" flush:eek: . If I lift it up, I can't even see through the crack. So yeah, they totally fixed mine. I'd reccomend you break your macbook pro without any trace of external damage, and mention the lid being warped. You'll even probably get the new logic board! :D
