Today I was lounging with my iLap when I go to close my lid / screen and it does not lock down. At first I think its the little magnet hooks, but those where coming down.

So make an appt with the apple store, the genius gives it a look over and says my case is warped.

He could not tell if it was the actual screen or the bottom case. Either way it looks like i'm atleast getting a new case so any little nicks are going bye bye.

So she's off to the home land, for the next 5 to 10 days getting a new case put on her.

god speed mbp. god speed.

It was a Core Duo bought in June 2006.

I have no idea why the case would of warped, however the genius said its pretty common.

I see a few threads around here about people saying there lids do not meet up even.

to Maasey: sorry for making a thread that disappoints you so.

but I did a search and did not find much relating to the case warping.

I remember when I owned my MBP CD it got really really hot. So I wonder if it was cause of the heat. I currently own a MBP CD2 and it runs way cooler.

It might be because of heat, but I bought the iLap for that reason. I keep a real close eye as well, using smc fan controller. if it ever gets above 140F I always max out the fans and cool it back to 114ish.
