Apart from the whine everyone is talking these days I noticed a second kind of whine. I can only hear it when I scroll using the trackpad, if I plug in an usb mouse it's gone. How odd is that?

Glad I'm not the only one to notice this. I've only noticed it once but it was pretty annoying. I've had this sort of thing on Windows before.

Seems fine again though so I don't know if it was a one-off.

Thats odd, I've got the almost exact opposite happening on my MBP.

Running on battery is the only time I experience 'the whine' but then I use the trackpad 'two finger' scrolling the whine goes away. Like if I rub my fingers back and forth in Safari the whine is totally gone but the second I stop it comes back.

I know what you mean. But if you listen more carefully, you will notice that instead of the CPU whine you get a much more subtile whine - the scroll whine.
