Hi all,

Last night I noticed my MBP fans (I think) started making a low "whirring" noise, as if the fans were about to die. When I angled the MBP, the noise got worse. It was going about 2000 rpm, which is usually virtually silent. This was right after I played an intensive game of Company of Heroes where the fans were almost maxed out. I put it to sleep and this morning the whirring is gone. Should I be worried (i.e. call AppleCare)? I did a search for this problem and it doesn't seem to be a common one...

Thanks for any advice!

It looks like I didn't look hard enough  Yes, similar to that sound, except not quite as loud. The weird thing is I can't hear it any more now (a day later). The MBP's only a month old; I hope the fans aren't starting to go already! Have you gotten yours fixed?

I'm returning mine for a refund, so I don't know if they could repair it.

That sucks. I love my MBP and would hate to have to return it.

I found out that the noise comes back whenever I do something graphics-intensive -- for example playing a game or watching a video. I suspect its something to do with the GPU fan. I guess I'll have to call AppleCare...
