Hi All,

I have a mid-2012 unibody 13" MBP that refuses to sleep with the lid open.

I have recently downgraded from Mavericks (too many bugs) by performing a complete format (zero out) and clean install of 10.8.3

The comp sleeps instantly when the lid is closed.

pmset -g assertions reveals the following:

Assertion status system-wide:
PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep 0
PreventSystemSleep 0
PreventUserIdleSystemSleep 0
ExternalMedia 0
UserIsActive 0
ApplePushServiceTask 0
BackgroundTask 0

Kernel Assertions: None

pmset -g custom:

Battery Power:
lidwake 1
autopoweroff 1
autopoweroffdelay 14400
standbydelay 4200
standby 0
ttyskeepawake 1
hibernatemode 3
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
displaysleep 2
sleep 5
acwake 0
halfdim 1

disksleep 10
AC Power:
lidwake 1
autopoweroff 1
autopoweroffdelay 14400
standbydelay 4200

hibernatemode 3
hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
womp 0
displaysleep 5
networkoversleep 0

I have attempted most fixes I could find on the internet. Nothing seems to work.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you ahead of time! ;)

Quick update: Pressing the "Sleep" button in the Apple menu sends the computer to sleep instantly.

The Mac still won't sleep when turning the display with Control-Shift-Eject or when the display is allowed to go out via its energy saver preferences.

I have gone through all of these links (plus many more) and none of them seem to help.

No gfxcardstatus was ever installed. This problem is occurring on a cleanly-installed 10.8.3 system with Firefox as the only third-party app.

Thank you!

Control-Shift-Eject is not a shortcut for sleep.

Cmd-Option-Eject is the right one for sleep.

Yes, that's true.

However, if you use Control-Shift-Eject, and then wait for a minute, the macbook goes to sleep automatically.

If I used the same keyboard shortcut, the MBP would idle for hours without going to sleep.

I resolved the problem by downloading a clean image of 10.8.5, placing it on a thumb-drive, formatting, and re-installing.
