Hey all,

I have been searching through the web but couldn't find anything specific, so I got tired of searching and decided to make a post.

My dad is currently sitting in Paris airport and trying to use their wireless network. It's an open network for anyone to use.

His MacBook Pro connects to the network fine, and even shows full strength in the menu bar. When he tries to use Safari/Mail though, no internet connection is there. People next to him have their crappy Dells, and they are working just fine

He tried Network Diagnostics, but as usual, it offered no help apart from stating the obvious; that there was a green light for network, but a red for internet.

Help anyone?

Is he using any special proxy configuration? Maybe get him to open up a new location and see if the default proxy settings will work properly. :)
