MBP with Windows 7 build 6801

Everything is working absolutely great with a LOT of fuss, EXCEPT for the wireless networking card. I've tried absolutely everything I can think of and I'm at a loss. BootCamp 2.0 drivers, BootCamp 2.1 updated drivers, seperate Atheros Net5211 drivers, Latest Atheros AR5008 drivers. Windows is trying to install the BroadCom 802.11n drivers and that's the only one it thinks is compatible, even forcing new drivers upon it, it will not work.

Anybody got Windows 7 wireless working for a Macbook Pro yet? It's a month old MBP, 15", NVidia 8600GT 256, 200gig, 2 gig RAM, etc.

Just looking for more ideas, as I see NO Windows 7 issues anywhere on the net pertaining to the wireless cards, just mainly Windows Vista, which I have tried every shape and form I think.

PS - The wired network adapter does work, as I hooked it up, downloaded all the Windows updates to see if that worked as well. As I said, everything is working except the wireless card. Haven't messed with the touchpad yet but it does left/right click with no problems.

Got it, just tried every Broadcom 802.11n driver on the internet! Found one, and it's actually a Vista/XP driver, in case anyone else needs it.

Had another problem with the audio that I didn't realize before, since Device Manager is saying everything is working, I thought I had my volume all the way down. Easy fix with the newest RealTek drivers, found at;

Good job on this man. I'd love to help you track and maintain a list of all the Windows 7 on Mac issues, and gather people to try and fix them.

Here are my current issues:

1. Audio Stutter - Every 15 to 20 seconds the Audio stutters heavily, and CPU usage spikes on Windows 7. Not happening in Vista or in BootCamp on the MBP. Probably a drivers issue. I need to experiment a little more.

2. Trackpad sensitivity - Need a way to adjust both the tracking and the clicking sensitivity. Right now clicking often requires multiple attempts, and tracking is overly sensitive (this is different from tracking speed)

^ Yup +1 for that. You should keep this and add more detailed observations in a small text file or something. That way when W7 actually is released, you can go back and read about your troubles and see if MS fixed any bugs.

One small issue, the above stated RealTek drivers work fine, except the Sound Manager says that it's intended for use on Vista, so I'll be researching this a little, not too worried being as it's a Beta and all and the sound does work thus far without any ill-effects.

One thing's for sure, Internet Explorer 8 is extremely buggy so far. I also downloaded a gadget that is used for CPU temperature display, no overheating issues yet, however, I haven't run any large programs or games yet. Will update when/if encountered.

As far as the scratchy audio, the only time I hear any type of issue is upon boot up at the Windows splash screen, other than that I haven't heard anything, I'll have to play more audio files and see if I'm experiencing anything while idling and during process initiation.

Another thing I just started noticing is if you dim the display anywhere below full brightness, there is a very high pitch noise emitted from the screen or somewhere in the system, may have something to do with the BootCamp drivers.

Use your XP/Vista Boot Camp drivers disc and load the trackpad.exe file from the drivers folder.

It fixes the trackpad.

Also, Apple's bluetooth and sound drivers work fine in 7. The only thing I can't fix is my MacBook's function keys. The "applekeyboard.exe" driver won't install. This makes turning down brightness and sound very annoying.

well windows 7 is still in beta so im sure we are all bound for some problems here in there in terms of drivers, but it still has the xp and vista driver supports in there still so yea.

How did you get the Boot Camp Update exe to install? Mine just quits upon launch. Is there a way to extract the drivers out of it? The keyboard driver that is included on the original Leopard disc won't work with Windows 7.

link is dead...can you repost..i just finished installin windows 7 and need airport drivers, i installed the drivers from the bootcamp cd but airport isnt working

AsusTek 802.11n driver link still works for me, I can upload it to a file share if you still are having troubles downloading it. As far as the operating system goes, it's been very stable for me. One thing I did was installed FireFox 3.0.4 since it's MUCH more stable than IE8, but that's no big secret. Anybody else have any new input for this build?

I only had a chance to use it for a few days but it did appear to be a significant improvement over vista in terms of stability and usability. performance was negligible in games, but the time it takes to do something is reduced which is good. i look forward to the december beta.

I have been testing out this build on VMWare over the past few days... I must say, I'm a fan so far. Enabling the 'SuperBar' was interesting... It's definitely too early to make any solid judgments, but I'm optimistic.

I'm looking forward to the beta release in early-2009.

Anyone got their MacBook or MacBook Pro's function keys to work in the current Windows 7 build? I would love to be able to control my notebook's brightness setting.
