I've noticed a few times that my MBP won't launch/ or load Certain movies in my DVD collection...it's very frustrating - has any one else had this problem?? What should I do about it?
Are the discs scratched? Do other computers read them?
It could be a bad superdrive, I'd test a DVD that the MacBook Pro isn't able to read, in another computer. If that computer is able to read it, I'd take it to the Genius Bar and ask them to replace the Superdrive.
I'll give it a try on another comp. btw what's a Genius Bar??
do they have apple stores in canada? the genius bar is the support area located in apple retail stores.
Yeah, Canada has a couple Apple stores.

Not around where I live unfortunately...It's just weird that it's not every DVD that doesn't load. Maybe there is something with the disc. That's too bad.
Thanks for your thoughts you guys.
Doug.

Have you tried it again after restarting? After I recieved my 17" SR MBP, instead of transferring Aperture from my old 15" MBP, I decided to do a fresh install from the disk. For some reason my new MBP would not read the install DVD at all, I put it in my 15" and showed up fine, put it back in the 17" and nothing again... I decided to wait until morning and call Apple tech support and they had no idea why this would be happening.. Funny thing, after I hung up with Apple I inserted the Aperture install DVD again and it read just fine... I didn't do anything, except let it sit over night... strange, I know.
Edit: BTW, it was reading all other DVDs previous to me inserting the Aperture install disk.
Do you have any Apple Authorized Service Providers near you? You could take it to one of them to see if they will replace the Superdrive. Where did you buy it from?
