Hi

I've got a 1.83 MacBook Pro. I recently purchased a 1gb ram dimm (gigaram). Many people on newegg with MPB had a postiave rating.

I recently x benched my computer with and with out the extra ram, yet I gotr some strange scores.

1.5 Gb ram Score 55.6
512 Mb Ram Score 58.7

Why would my performance go down with the new ram? My computer runs fine with it in, no crashing, faster start up. Is this normal? Do I have a bad dimm?

Thx-Alex

I dont know what the problem is but X-Bench is notorious for not being very accurate. Maybe try restarting your MBP and running the test again.

Patmian212 speaks the truth, Xbench is not very accurate. I just installed a new video card in my Power Mac G5 the other day and Xbench showed no increase in performance. Even though the video card I installed was ~2x faster than my previous video card (256MB Radeon 9800XT vs. 128MB Radeon 9600) Xbench showed no real change in what score it gave my Mac.
