I know mini-LED is less susceptible to burn in, full stop. Curious if there’s any reasonable fear to be had of burn in by using one of those notch “blackout” apps at all times on my new 14”.

Thought I’d get used to the notch- I’ve definitely tuned it out, but I still think the blackout bar is a much sleeker look (and a little more in line design-wise with the new iPhones, fwiw!)

Image persistence (not burn in) is a possible thing with LCD screens. (Mini-LED is still an LCD screen, just different backlighting.)
Many 2014 to 2017 iMacs suffer from this, showing ghosting of the menu bar. I had it on my 2014 iMac.
However you won't find out for 3+ years, and I don't think a blackout bar will make it any worse (or better).

I guess you’re right, and at the end of the day the worst that could happen would be… burn in in the menu bar that is never used in full screen applications anyway, because of the area beneath still being 16:10. Sometimes it helps to have a voice of ration come in- I appreciate you haha

how can you burn in when that part of the display is off 🤔
Burn in can occur from high contrast elements on the screen. The fear is that it could accelerate burn in of either the text in the bar or the border between the bar and the screen below.
