I encountered a weird one this evening. Opened the laptop and immediately started using it. I don't remember being prompted for authentication - but noticed notifications faded out and some functionality not responding (tried clicking apple logo top left - no response). I was however able to use Chrome and browse to several sites. Note the "Unlock with Touch ID" appearing on the touchbar. Everything appeared quite laggy.
I closed the laptop and reopened immediately. It then was at the login screen. After authenticating everything was back to normal and speed/responsiveness was also better.
What on earth happened? Seems like a security issue?
