I have my brand new MBPro and a 24" Dell LCD.
While in the office, I want to be able to run the LCD only and keep the MBP closed to take advantage of the higher resolution of the LCD. Yet all I get is the thing going to sleep. What settings do I need to change to make this work right?

Either:
1. Change the display settings so that mirroring is off (then you can use the external display at its native res AND the MPB display).
2. Use and external mouse, keyboard, and have power to the MPB. After the MPB goes to sleep, simply awake with keyboard & mouse (if this doesn't work, check system preferences to allow this).

This should all be in the manual.

If you are usng a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, you may want to enable them to wake the comptuer. I believe this is under bluetooth options. This is also only available in a later revision of your bluetooth "firmware," so make sure it is up to date.
